Toddler Co-op Playgroup

Our Toddler Co-op is a nature-based playgroup focused on child-led play via our mud kitchen, obstacle courses, gross motor play, sensory exploration, and process art. It is designed to be an introductory drop-off program for young toddlers who may be beginning the process of separating from primary caregivers. It functions as a cooperative with the presence of a parent volunteer (volunteering is not a requirement for enrollment in the program) in addition to our Toddler Program Director and additional Wondretree staff. We spend significant time engaging in social-emotional play and navigating concepts such as sharing, boundaries, and communicating needs.  Each session is capped at 12 children with 3 facilitators.

Meet our team!

Program Goals

  • develop an appreciation for our natural world

  • Use sensory based exploration and mindfulness techniques to observe the seasonal changes and incorporate these into play

  • use a variety of art supplies to drive their own artistic process in connection with the theme of the day

  • interact with their peers and caregivers to build community through play, while outside in nature

What Our Day Looks Like

Below is an example of what our day entails.

Each day will follow the same rhythm. The children lead the way in regards to how long they spend in an area or on an activity so times are approximate.

9am-10am: child led-play within the set-up space

10am: snack, circle time with singing and reading book

10:30am-12pm: exploration of the main activity, related to the book with a nature and art component
